On June 24th of 2015, my husband and I decided to take a little break from the stresses of life and visit the Oneonta Falls about 40 minutes from where we live. We have been talking about this place for a little while and decided it was time for action! Luckily, our neighbor Carol was willing to watch the little kiddos, again, how lucky are we to have such great neighbors that thinks of us as family?
I have no idea why but overtime we go out, I always forget to eat beforehand and I was so darn hungry and of course my hubby ordered the perfect subway sandwich for the two of us that consisted of black forest ham, turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, olives, mayo, and sweet onion sauce! I think I got everything right... whenever I order it, something is always missing. Anyway, I was so excited to do something like this because I never really do anything fun... lol but I was excited to finally do something with just the two us. I had a huge headache because of the heat earlier that day, but it soon went away once we arrived.
First things first, was to park near the tunnel so we don't have to walk too far. After that, we went down the staircase towards the way to the falls. We were so prepared for this because we had on water shoes, swimming trunks for him, and active wear for me! I knew we were going to be drenched and after watching the other tourists with long socks and pants on, oh was I so glad to be prepared! We walked for a little while until we reached the fallen tree obstacle, we had NO idea it was that LONG! I thought it was just a couple of fallen trees... but NOPE it was way more than that.
I loved the part where we had to go through the deeper water to get to the falls. I'm so short and the water reached all the way up to my chest! Once we reached the falls, zach swam towards the waterfall and kind of lost one of his shoe, but thanks to the power of the waterfalls it floated back up and came back to us! HAHA. It would have sucked so bad if he lost it for real though. We went back home after that because we had to get back to the kids as it was getting close to dinner time. It was such a fun experience and on our next one, I want to go to wahclella falls with the kids!
