I have been impressed by Kat Von D since last year, I purchased four of her liquid lipsticks, received two deluxe samples of it also and have been loving everything about it. I researched her and read so many reviews about her other products. I have also read about how she discontinues and creates new things, so if you like something of hers you have got to grab it! I definitely have snagged the Kat Von D shade and light EYE palette when it came out because I just did not want to lose out on it. I wrote a review of the product earlier and I just absolutely, absolutely love it. It made me feel like she is just an amazing person who knows how to create great makeup.
Although I have been really back and forth about purchasing the contour palette, I just wasn't sure if it was going to deliver for me. I have the most sensitive and acne prone skin that I just never bothered with contouring palettes. I did do a light bronzing/contouring with my bonjour soleil palette, but I just keep breaking out in small little bumps if I use it more than one day. I ended up skipping them mostly just because I didn't want to deal with the aftermath. I waited for a while to see the feedback from other women and watched comparisons from YouTube and sephora reviews. A lot of them mentioned that the ingredients in Kat Von D did not break them out since it is talc-free.
The Kat Von D contour palette is more cool than the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette, which is something I really appreciate. In my opinion, KVD is more of a highlight/contour while the ABH seems too much of a highlight/bronzer at least for me. If I want to contour, I do not want any warm tones under my cheekbones as they do not create a shadow. I was greatly impressed when I put it on for the first time, it is pigmented, easy to blend, and just very creamy! I have already experienced the intensity of her eyeshadow palette, so I did not dare go crazy picking up the product with my brush.
Honestly, I looked like I lost 5 more pounds. On my face. I wish I could contour my mommy belly in a pinch with it. But no, I have to depend on Jillian Michaels DVD for that! Anyway, I used the color Sombre, and it was just the perfect tone for me. It created a true shadow and really sculpt my cheekbones. I have not yet used the other two colors. I plan to use the middle color for my bronzer, and the darkest for summertime. For the highlight, I mixed the first two colors for underneath my eyes and it really brightened it up which is a major plus because it's now my new brigtening setting powder. I also used the lightest highlight color for the bridge of my nose, forehead, and chin. For the last highlight color, I used it underneath my contour shade to lightly blend the two together because I don't like any harsh lines on my face.
I gave this palette a 10/10 because of non irritating ingredients, amazing pigmentation, blendability, and the correct shading tone.
