Today my son and I went to the mall for a little shopping trip. I was on a hunt for the Tartelette matte palette. I don't have ANY matte palettes that is complete with a base, contour, and defining shade. I visited Ulta first and watched the colors in store and thought it was really pretty. While it watched perfectly in one swipe, I wasn't too sure I liked the cool undertones of the palette and the colors reminded me of the Naked 3 Palette too much.
Afterwards, my little guy was getting hungry so we went for a little snack and had Annie's Pretzels with a cheese dip. As we were eating, I was on beauty forums and asked around which matte palette I should purchase instead. All the girls practically screamed through my iPhone screen and told me about Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette. So of course.... I went to Sephora. As I was strolling around the store hunting for the palette, I saw the too faced matte palette but wasn't impressed that the darkest color was just a brown. I much prefer something darker than that. I asked the sales associate if they had Kat Von D and they told me these were not out on the shelves even though it has been released. Luckily I was able to purchase one because the sales associate said they only had 2 left in stock from the leftover VIB purchases! That was probably why they never took it out on the shelves because there were barely any left!
I was so excited to finally try Kat Von D shadows I couldn't wait to go home. I only have their liquid lipsticks which are also amazing, but that is another review to come! The palette comes in three undertones which are neutral, cool, and warm all in one! It's perfect because it's exactly what I was looking for. I did not want to be stuck with a one undertone matte palette. The colors of the Kat Von D eyeshadows have AMAZING pigment. I thought my Urban Decay Palette was great, but these were a "one tap" type of eyeshadows which really shocked me when I first tried it. I had to hold back a little bit! There were little dusting when I applied my brush to the shadow, but I feel like that is expected of any shadow. I had no trouble blending the shadows together and it looked so beautiful!
I have lots of shimmer products, and needed a matte to complete my beauty addiction and I am really happy with this purchase! For reference to you beautiful ladies who are considering this palette, I am a light to medium skin tone (MAC NC25, Smashbox 2.2, MUFE 120/127) and all the shades showed up beautifully.
